Delete your account and data
As of: 19 September 2026
This page applies to the echt.job app provided by Echtjob UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Tübingen, Germany. It explains how to delete your account, which data is deleted, and which data we are legally required to keep.
1. How to delete your account
In the app
Deletion is done in the app: open the Profile tab and tap Delete account (in German: “Konto löschen”). Once you confirm, the account is deleted immediately and permanently. This cannot be undone.
Questions and lost access to your account
For questions about your data, contact us at info@echtjob.de. This also applies if you can no longer get into your account, for example because you lost access: write to us with the subject “Delete account”, preferably from the email address you registered with at echt.job. We review each case individually and will ask you to confirm your identity, so that nobody can have someone else’s account deleted.
2. What is deleted
Together with the account, the following is deleted:
- Login data and profile (name, email address, phone number, address, profile picture)
- documents you uploaded (e.g. ID and residence documents, sick notes)
- your verification status and the bank and tax details stored with us
- emergency contacts and emergency-alert events
3. What is kept for legal reasons
Some records also concern the other party to a job or must be kept by law. On deletion, only the link to your account is removed; the records themselves remain:
- Invoices and payment records (accounting vouchers): 8 years; accounting books, inventories, opening balance sheets and annual financial statements: 10 years (section 147(3) German Fiscal Code, section 257(4) German Commercial Code)
- Documents relating to the mini-job registration (household cheque form, power of attorney, image of your signature): 10 years from the registration, as evidence towards the Minijob-Zentrale and the tax office
- Photos relating to a dispute: 3 years after the end of the year in which the dispute was settled (sections 195, 199 German Civil Code); while it is still open, the photo is kept as evidence for both parties
- Messages and reviews: remain visible to the other party, without any link to your account
- Data held by our payment provider OPP: OPP is an independent controller and is subject to its own regulatory and anti-money-laundering retention obligations. We do not delete this data ourselves; details are in OPP’s privacy notice.
4. More information
Full details on processing and retention periods are in the app privacy policy (German, sections 5 and 6). If you have questions, contact us at info@echtjob.de.
